Prayer Requests

There are two separate prayer lists: the main list (from which names are removed after 2 weeks), a long term list (where names remain longer, but are prayed for less frequently). If you would like to be added to one of these prayer lists, please click on the link below (and specify which list you would like to be on. The prayer lists are also used by our prayer chain group."

Regular Prayer Request
A regular prayer request is a normal request which goes on the main list, is read more or less daily by the members of the prayer chain, and is read every Sunday in church. But it drops automatically after two weeks -- though it can be renewed.

Long Term Prayer Request
A long term prayer request is either something you know will be on the list for a while, or that has been on the regular list and now requires less intensive prayer. It will be read once a week by the members of the prayer chain and once a month in church, and it generally stays on the list until removed (though you may get a call or email about this). Chronic diabetes or recovery after heart surgery would be examples. The former might go right to the long term list. The later might start on the regular list and then move, after successful surgery, to the long term list.)

Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King chapter at St. George's Church meets at the church on the third Sunday of every month, after the 10:30 a.m. service.
The Daughters of the King is an order open to women communicants of the Episcopal Church, to churches in communion with the Episcopal Church, and affiliate chapters may be established in churches having an Historic Episcopate.
The word and Spirit, the chapter at St. George's, meets the third Sunday of every month after the 10 a.m. service. Through membership in the Order, women are given strength through prayer, disciplined through following the rule of the Order, and offered an opportunity for useful work through service for our clergy, congregation, diocese, and beyond.

For more information please call St. George's  office at 487-5600.

St George's Woman's Guild

Our mission is to serve the needs of the parish family by supporting the work of its many ministries and to serve the surrounding community while enhancing spiritual growth and fellowship among its members. In addition to its service to the parish, the Guild strives to reach out to women and children in need through specific programs and projects in conjunction with parish ministries and other worthy activities not served by those ministries.

For information please contact Barbara at the St. George's  office at 487-5600.

Outreach Opportunities

River City Food Bank - 916 446 2627

In its 40 years of operation, RCFB has maintained its focus on emergency food and shelter services. When someone hits a rough patch, they can come to RCFB for a little help. Clients represent every age and income group, and live in urban and suburban neighborhoods throughout Sacramento. Many are “working poor” and find themselves uncertain about where their next meals will come from after facing a set-back such as an unexpected car repair or medical problem. RCFB’s assistance, given with compassion, helps to instill hope and support self-reliance. Volunteers continue to be at the heart of what we do, providing over 11,000 hours of labor and love each year.

Loaves and Fishes - 916 446 0874

Without passing judgment, and in a spirit of love and hospitality, Loaves & Fishes feeds the hungry and shelters the homeless. We provide an oasis of welcome, safety, and cleanliness for homeless men, women and children seeking survival services.
Founded in 1983, we are governed by a board of directors selected from Loaves & Fishes and from the community-at-large – people who have demonstrated compassion and concern about the needs of the homeless and the indigent poor.
We recognize the dignity and spiritual destiny of each person, and hope by our attitude of hospitality and love, to nourish not only the physical needs of those who come to Loaves & Fishes, but also their spiritual need for love, acceptance, respect, and friendship.
We serve each person with the belief that "as often as you did it for one of my least brothers and sisters, you did it for me." (Matthew 25:40)

United Thank Offering

Through the United Thank Offering, men, women, and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Those who participate in the United Thank Offering have discovered that thankfulness leads to generosity. UTO combines these generous offerings to fund significant projects that make a real difference n the work of the Episcopal Church and in the Anglican Communion and a real difference in people's lives. The United Thank Offering addresses compelling human need through grants to projects that alleviate poverty, both domestically and internationally, within the Anglican provinces, dioceses, and companion dioceses.

For more information please call St. George's  office at 487-5600.

Alcoholics Anonymous
